LOCATION

The Club would like to start by acknowledging the Whadjuk Noongar people, the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters where the club is located, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community.

Fremantle Mosman Park Cricket Club at Gilbert Fraser Reserve is one of the best located cricket clubs in all of Western Australia on the banks of the Swan River in North Fremantle.

Located along John St and Johanna St in North Fremantle, the eastern ground has a full turf wicket block and the western ground has a synthetic hardwicket and is overlooked by our heritage-listed grandstand.

Our training facilities are excellent with two full three-lane turf nets and three hardwicket nets catering to cricketers of all ages and standards.

Recent facility improvements have included updated changing rooms with hot showers and amenities for both home and away sides, improved lighting to the ground to extend training sessions when needed, and the addition of a large electronic video scoreboard capable of serving both grounds.

CLUB HISTORY

Cricket has been played in North Fremantle from the late nineteenth century when the legendary Fremantle leg spinner Bobby Selk was bamboozling the country’s top batsmen from both visiting interstate and intrastate teams. Another famous player to grace the ground was Ernie Bromley who played a few Tests for Australia in the early 1930’s.

In recent times, teams representing North Fremantle played in the Fremantle Mercantile Competition, and the club based at Gilbert Fraser Reserve has been strengthened by the mergers with Bicton United Cricket Club in the early 1980’s, the Districts Cricket Club in late 1980’s and the Mosman Park Cricket Club in the mid-1990’s.

The latter amalgamation dramatically changed the club’s direction as it now competes in the West Australian Suburban Turf Cricket Association (WASTCA) with its top two sides playing graded competition on turf instead of synthetic hardwickets.

Building on several lower grade successes in previous competitions, the club has now achieved one of its long-term ambitions to play first grade cricket on its own turf pitch located at its own ground.

We are now looking forward to entertaining (and beating) the top sides in the WASTCA, so come along and view the action from the comfort of our heritage-listed grandstand. Enjoy the picturesque backdrop of the Swan River and take advantage of the cooling ‘Fremantle Doctor’ breeze on a hot summer’s afternoon!!
